Gamescom 2013

Zur deutschen Version / switch to german.

The institute for computer graphics and multimedia will be present at the gamescom in cologne again this year. From 8/21/13 till 8/25/13 we will be at hall 10.1 in booth E060a. Students and scientists will present there current projects and will also inform the public about studying computer science with a focus on computer graphics (visual computing) at the RWTH Aachen university.

The special effects and algorithms as they are used in modern games today are also used in other areas. This is why computer science is for many the preferred path into the gaming industry. But the learned methods will also be a solid basis for a career in other areas (or for a switch over after a short career in the gaming industry). A specialization on computer graphics (visual computing) consists of an exciting mix of theory and practical work, from mathematics to graphics programming in small teams.

The institute for computer graphics and multimedia will inform the public about this at the gamescom and also give an insight into current research topics as well as the teaching of computer graphics at the RWTH Aachen university. Our Youtube channel can give you a first impression of this. In addition to personal consulting at the booth, we will offer a talk about our institute on Friday 8/23/13 at 1:45 pm in the Speakers Corner in hall 10.1 (the speak will be in german). Additional information (also in german) can be found in our Flyer.

As this institute offers a special lecture about game programming, various practical courses as well as a game programming work group, there will be a lot to play at our booth. This year we offer demos on the head mounted display "Oculus Rift" to let visitors "dive into" our projects.
